140x200 mattress toppers with different types of comfort
A mattress topper 140x200 is the top comfort layer on a one-and-a-half/three-quarter bed with the same dimensions. It is therefore also the part of the bed you feel most when you lie down. The choice of topper makes a noticeable difference to whether the sleeping surface feels soft and enveloping, more springy, or more ventilating.
The right sleeping feel can make it easier to find rest in bed because the body gets a surface that better matches the way you lie and move during the night. Comfort is therefore not only about how the topper feels when you lie down, but also about how it works together with the body while you sleep.
At HOME-TEX you will find 140x200 mattress toppers with different cores, heights and covers. The range includes toppers with memory foam as well as latex and natural latex. Some are built with multiple comfort zones, while others have cooling or antibacterial covers and ventilating edges.
This makes it possible to choose much more precisely according to the sleeping feel you want. The most important thing is therefore not just to find a topper in the right size, but to look at the entire construction and choose the properties that give value for you in everyday life and at night.
Memory foam or latex makes a big difference
The core is one of the most important differences between toppers, because the materials react differently when you lie on them.
Memory foam is shaping and responds to the body’s heat and pressure. The material gives more particularly around the areas where the body exerts the most pressure, creating a closer and more enveloping sleeping feel. The more even pressure distribution can be comfortable if you prefer to lie still and have a topper that follows the body closely through the night.
Latex gives a completely different experience. The material is more elastic and quickly regains its shape when you move. You therefore typically lie more on top of a latex topper, while the material still gives around the body. The springy surface can make it easier to change sleeping positions during the night, because you do not sink as far into the material.
Latex cores also have small ventilation holes that help air move through the material.
Latex can be produced synthetically, while natural latex is extracted from the rubber tree. Many latex toppers combine latex and natural latex, and the ratio between the two can vary. It is therefore worth reading the construction of the individual topper if the proportion of natural latex matters for your choice.
The height affects how much you notice the topper
140x200 toppers are available in several heights, and the difference is about more than the size itself. The height tells you, among other things, how much material lies between you and the mattress below.
A topper with a smaller height provides a more discreet comfort layer, where the mattress underneath still has great influence on the overall sleeping feel. If you choose a higher topper, you get more core material to sink into or be supported by, depending on whether you choose memory foam or latex.
The height can therefore affect how much the topper influences the overall sleeping experience during the night. The more core material there is between the body and the mattress underneath, the greater the opportunity for the topper material to work around the body.
In the current selection at HOME-TEX you will find 140x200 toppers around 3 to 5 cm, 6 to 8 cm and 9 to 14 cm in height. A thicker topper is not automatically the best, but can provide a more pronounced change to the bed’s surface.
Therefore look at the height together with the core material. A tall memory foam topper and a tall latex topper will still give two very different lying experiences because the materials work differently under the body.
The cover is also part of the comfort
It is easy to focus only on the core, but the cover, which is also called the casing, is the part of the topper that lies closest to you. Therefore the material and construction of the casing can influence the temperature around the body through the night and the overall feel of the topper.
Some 140x200 toppers have bamboo in the cover, while others are developed with cooling properties. There are also models with antibacterial covers and ventilating edges that help air move around the topper.
It is the combination of core, cover and construction that determines how the individual topper functions. Two toppers with the same core material can therefore easily have different properties and give different experiences during the night.
Allergy-friendly 140x200 toppers
Some 140x200 toppers have properties that make them relevant if you want extra focus on a clean and hygienic sleeping environment. This can, for example, be in the form of our antibacterial covers or specific materials with properties that make the topper attractive if allergy-friendliness matters for your choice.
It is not necessarily the same property that makes all allergy-friendly toppers relevant. Therefore look at the individual topper and examine the core, cover and the features that are highlighted.
If you remember that you have dust mite allergy, it will also be an advantage to protect the topper with a mattress protector, which is easier to remove and wash regularly. This can make it easier to keep the bed’s top layer clean without having to handle the topper itself.
Be careful when washing the topper cover
Although the cover on some toppers can be removed, we generally do not recommend washing it. There is a risk that the cover will shrink or change shape during washing, so that it afterwards no longer fits the topper optimally.
If the cover does need washing, you must always follow the washing instructions on the specific topper carefully. We recommend a maximum of 800 revolutions in the spin cycle, and the cover should not be tumble dried.
Instead, let the cover air dry completely before putting it back on the topper. This reduces the risk that the cover changes size or fit.
Protect your new mattress topper 140x200
When you have found the 140x200 topper that provides the desired comfort, we always recommend protecting it with a mattress protector. The mattress protector is placed on top of the topper and under the sheet and absorbs moisture and daily wear before it reaches the topper itself.
The mattress protector is much easier to remove and wash than the topper cover. In this way you can better care for the topper you have chosen without having to wash or handle the topper itself unnecessarily.
At the same time it is important to choose a sheet that fits well around the topper and mattress protector, so the sleeping surface feels smooth and comfortable during the night. We recommend our topper fitted sheets, as they fit snugly around the topper and stay in place all night.
