Curtains with blackout effect can be either thick curtains that are tightly woven or curtains with a special coating on the back of the fabric - they all share the ability to block more than 92% of outside light. This creates a calmer and darker room, making it easier to fall asleep or watch a good movie on TV. Especially in the summer, a blackout curtain in the bedroom is indispensable. The sun rises early and sets very late, creating long bright days, making it difficult for some people to fall asleep. Windows in children's rooms are also a good idea to equip with a blackout curtain, as this will create a darker and calmer room.

Durable polyester curtains

Most curtains are made of 100% polyester. Polyester is a material that can withstand the sun's rays and heat much better than other materials. In windows, materials are particularly exposed to the sun's effects. Polyester provides a curtain that is extremely durable, colorfast (retains colors), and UV-protected, so the curtain is not damaged by the sun.

Pre-sewn curtain lengths

Pre-sewn curtains are often ready to hang, making them easy to change according to decor and purpose. Once you have installed the curtain rod, it is easy to find a curtain that matches your decor, both in design and colors.
Curtains come in 3 lengths (sometimes fewer, other times more):

140x175 cm
140x245 cm
140x300 cm

This gives curtains different expressions and uses. A curtain with a length of 300 cm often goes from ceiling to floor. And a curtain of 175 cm fits most windows, just covering the windowsill. A good tip is to measure your windows before looking for new curtains.

Easy adjustment and maintenance

Hemming and adjusting the curtain length is made easy, in most cases it will be possible with hemming tape, also called vlieseline or fliseline. This is a piece of tape with glue, which when heated with an iron creates a hem that, instead of being sewn together, is now glued together at the bottom of the curtain.

If the curtain needs refreshing, it can easily be machine washed. Always follow the instructions on the curtains. Most can be washed with a gentle cycle and can then be easily hung to dry directly on the curtain rod again.
