Holstein calf - Schleich

After birth the calves are lovingly licked drier by their mothers in their stalls. After just a few days they can go out onto the grass with the other cows to frolic and play. A couple of weeks later they begin to eat grass and hay. However, they still cannot digest the fresh green fodder as well as adult cows. That is why the calves continue to drink their mother's milk for six to twelve months.
