Towel Guide

We have carefully selected our range of towels. At HOME-TEX, we only choose the best quality while striving to keep prices low, ensuring our customers get the most value for their money.
We constantly seek new stock of quality towels to sell at the lowest prices.

Get started with your new towels

For the best results with your new towels, soak them in cold water for 24 hours before the first wash. This will remove any remaining treatment on the towel, bath towel, or bath sheet. You will then achieve much better absorbency.
To maintain the colour of dark textiles, we recommend soaking the towels in 5 L of water with 4 tablespoons of vinegar. Another method is to add vinegar to the fabric softener compartment during the wash.

Towel wash

HOME-TEX recommends washing towels at 60 degrees. In general, it is suggested to use more washing powder for towels than for other textiles. This helps keep the towels soft. For the nicest and softest towels, tumble dry them after washing.

Avoid using fabric softener

HOME-TEX strongly advises against using fabric softener when washing your towels, as it leaves a film on the cotton and significantly reduces absorbency. We recommend tumble drying your new towels. This way, you will get the softest and most luxurious towels with great absorbency.

OEKO-TEX100

Towels bought from HOME-TEX are all OEKO-TEX 100 certified. It is the world's leading health certification for textiles. These products are tested for harmful chemicals and dyes.

Materials and weaving

Towels are produced in different materials and can have various appearances. The most commonly used material for towels is cotton, but recently Egyptian cotton and bamboo have also become popular materials. The appearance of the towel is determined by the material, weaving technique, amount of material, and composition of borders and edges. The border is usually woven into the towel and provides a nice finish and decorative expression, so towels that are often displayed can also be part of the bathroom decor.

Some towels are also combined in weaving technique or materials. For example, there are towels in a bamboo/cotton combination, which gives very soft and nice towels in a more budget-friendly version.

Cotton
Regular cotton is often woven in a terry weave, which gives the towel its familiar appearance. Cotton towels have good absorbency and are easy to wash and maintain.

Egyptian cotton
A finer, stronger, and softer type of cotton. This is known for being more durable and finer in structure because the cotton fibers are longer and stronger. This gives towels that feel softer and nicer for a longer time. The absorbency is also higher in this type and is therefore a favorite for many.

Bamboo towels
Bamboo is extra soft, has incredible high durability and absorbency, higher than other textiles. Furthermore, bamboo is one of nature's most sustainable materials, which is also a winning argument for many. Bamboo towels are typically woven in terry and therefore also feel soft and airy. The many advantages of bamboo towels can be topped with properties such as: quick-drying, allergy-friendly, and antibacterial.

Organic cotton
The soft towels made of organic cotton have all the same properties as other cotton towels. However, it has been shown that organic cotton, as well as the way the towels are made with these fibers, gives a softer towel that is more durable and feels stronger.

Microfiber
The lightest towels are made of microfiber. This type of towel is extra quick-drying but does not provide as high absorbency as cotton or bamboo. These are good for travel, training, cleaning, or other uses that also require a towel that dries quickly and is ready to use again.

Towel types and sizes

Bath sheet
As the word describes, a bath sheet is a very large towel used both for everyday use at home by the shower and for trips to the beach. A bath sheet is also popular to bring to the pool, as it is large enough to wrap around the body and also to lie on. The bath sheet typically measures 100x150 cm.

Bath towel
A regular bath towel typically measures 70x140 cm and is the most common towel for daily use. This is because the towel has a good size when hanging and is large enough to use for drying the whole body.

Hand towel
The 50x100 cm towel is used very differently. Women typically use this size as a hair towel, together with a bath towel or bath sheet for the body. Furthermore, this size is also used as a towel at the hand wash or as a towel for small children. This size is therefore very versatile in use and is almost always part of a towel set.

Beach towel
A beach towel is the largest of the towels, measuring a full 100x200 cm. This type of towel often comes in designs and colors that make the towel easy to recognize and see if it is lying somewhere you sometimes walk away from it, e.g., at pool baths or on the beach. Beach towels are also often produced with a combination of two weaving techniques, one side with terry and one side of soft velour. The velour side is extra soft and dense, making it pleasant to lie on. The terry side gives the towel higher absorbency and is therefore good for drying off.

Guest towel
A small towel used at the hand wash to dry hands after washing. Some also use this type of towel to dry after washing the face, as it is small and practical for this purpose. This towel is also often included in towel sets, so you can easily get towels that match and cover all needs. These small towels can vary a bit in size but are usually called: 40x60 cm.

Washcloth
Small towel-like cloths used to wash, for example, the body or face. Washcloths are also good to have in the bag for travel or training, as they do not take up much space and have many uses. Usually measure 30x30 cm.
